Appointments

The telephone is a vital link between our families and us, and we want to make your “calling in” experiences as efficient and helpful as possible. Our regular office hours begin at 8am Monday through Friday, and Saturdays at 8:30am ; please call during those hours to schedule any type of appointment. In addition, you can stay connected with Mt. Airy Pediatrics 24/7 by logging into your Patient Portal account.

Our office policy is that each patient is assigned a "primary" provider with whom all well care visits and most sick/same day visits will be scheduled. This policy allows parents and patients to develop relationship with this clinician over the years. This consistency can be vital over the years as we help families navigate their children's health and development.  In certain specific situations, we may be able to accommodate a request to switch to another provider in the practice. Such requests would need to be approved by the Practice Manager as well as the clinician.

Well Care appointments

Please call to make checkup appointments during regular office hours, Monday through Friday. We encourage parents to make checkup appointments well in advance, especially if you plan on coming in during the spring and summer months. Our reminder system sends out weekly reminders 10-12 weeks before your child is due for a checkup appointment, as well as immunizations. We strongly encourage you to use the Patient Portal for checkup appointment requests. The portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A staff member will reply to your request within 48 hours.

Sick Visits/Same day appointments

We always have same day appointments available to schedule for unplanned emergencies or new concerns. These appointments will be scheduled with any available provider, but if we are able they will be scheduled with your primary. Please call for sick visit or same day appointments as soon as possible after 8:00 am. Regular office hours to make sick visit appointment begin at 8am, but if you know you would like your child seen, calling early will give you the most options for appointment times.

Prescription Renewals

To renew medications, please call during regular business hours. Please leave as much information as possible in your message. We also encourage you to use the Patient Portal for prescription refill requests. You may also contact your pharmacy for renewals; they will then contact our office.

Evenings and Weekends

A clinician from our practice is always available to answer calls about urgent medical concerns during evenings and weekends. Please note that the phone message you hear if you call after our office hours have ended will be different; simply listen and follow the prompts to contact the on-call provider for that day.

Consultations

There are times when it is helpful to meet with parents who are expecting, or parents with or without their child.  These visits are scheduled as consultations. If you would like to schedule a prenatal "meet and greet" or a consultation for a current patient of the practice, please call during regular office hours and we will gladly set up a time for you with your primary to come in.
